October Farm offers programs through the Norfolk Recreation Department for children and adults interested in learning to ride.
For specific program details, please go to

Lessons are available at October Farm in the areas of Dressage & Eventing. Our philosophy is "Correct basics and good horsemanship are the keys to success and happiness with horses, regardless of the discipline or goal."
New students learn how to groom, tack-up, and ride as part of their private one hour lesson. Once students are able to groom and tack up independently, they are welcomed to either remain in their hour private lesson, take a half hour private lesson, or join into a semi-private or group of students that share the same amount of experience.
Whether you’re looking to learn how to ride just for fun, or refine your competition skills, we have an instructor to accommodate you. Our students compete in a variety of shows including: our own farm shows, local schooling dressage shows, 2- Phase, and Eventing. Rated shows are also part of our show season and two students from October Farm made it to the top 8 at the 2013 NEDA Fall Festival for Jr. Training Level; one of which actually won the championship for that division.
